Walk to End Alzheimers 1 - Square Cow Moovers

One in eight older Americans has Alzheimer’s disease, which is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.  If you live in The Woodlands or have recently moved to the area, this Saturday, October 6, you can help to raise Alzheimer’s Awareness by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.  This year over 1,300 walkers are expected to participate.  Events include a 5K walk, a remembrance ceremony, a Memory Wall for participants to share photos of loved ones affected by this disease, and the opportunity to learn more about local services and programs.  The walk takes place at Town Green Park from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM.  Participation for the walk begins at 8:00 AM and the walk begins at 9:00 AM.  Anyone can participate and there is no fee; however, walkers are encouraged to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.  Participants who raise over $100 will receive a 2012 Walk t-shirt.  The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a nation wide event.  Last year 39,000 teams participated in nearly 650 Walks and helped to raise over $47.2 million.  To register, visit this site: http://act.alz.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=1820
