If you have recently moved to the Austin area, even if you moved over two years ago, you have probably not experienced the Trail of Lights.  For two years an Austin Holiday Tradition, the Trail of Lights, has been absent from Zilker Park.  Local businesses have banded together this year to help fund the Trail of Lights, RunTex and Humana are two of these businesses.  If you would like an opportunity to see the Trail of Lights before it is open to the public, then you will want to participate in the Trail of Lights 5K on December 15th.  Race participants have the privilege and advantage of running past the Zilker Tree, through the Austin Nature and Science Center, and into the Trail of Lights the night before it opens to the public.  If you decide to run in the Trail of Lights 5K, your entry fee will help fund this event and the Trail of Lights.  The Trail of Lights is open to the public for a short time from December 16-23.  Lines to get into the Trail of Lights and see the Zilker Tree can be long, avoid them by running in the Trail of Lights 5k.  There is also a Trail of Lights Kid’s Run so the whole family can participate!  For more information and to register: http://trailoflights5k.eventbrite.com/
