Close your eyes and moo-ditate, imagine a wide open space, a green pasture, filled with fragrant zoysia grass…  While this image of a cow’s paradise may not be your ideal outdoor space, we are sure both cows and humans can agree that nature shouldn’t include trash.  We want to encourage everyone (of the cow and human variety) to participate in the Keep Austin Beautiful Clean Sweep event occurring in a neighborhood near you!

On Saturday April 13th, from 9 AM to 11 AM over 5,000 volunteers will work together to remove almost 30 tons of trash at over 140 different sites in 31 zip codes throughout the city of Austin!  By donating just 2 hours of your Saturday morning, you can help make a huge difference in helping to keep your local community clean.  Clean Sweep sites include: Zilker Park, locations all around Lady Bird Lake, the Shoal Creek Greenbelt, Mt. Bonnell, Balcones Community Park, a 620 low water crossing, the Y at Oak Hill, Republic Square Park, and many more.  We are confident that you will be able to find a Clean Sweep site near your neighborhood.

Don’t worry there is an after party where you can connect with like-minded volunteers, receive a free lunch as a thank you for all your hard work (all 2 hours of it), and listen to live music (of course, this IS Austin).  The Volunteer Party and Environmental Fair is at Fiesta Gardens.  For more information: http://www.keepaustinbeautiful.org/cleansweep
