The sun is just beginning to rise on a beautiful Saturday morning, your children throw back their covers, hop out of their beds and immediately begin making them.  On their way to brush their teeth, they pass their backpacks already filled with their completed homework, ready for Monday morning.  The entire family then laces up their running shoes and goes for a brisk mile long run.  Next your children quietly gather around you as you read a story out loud to them. Wait…you mean this isn’t what your Saturday morning looks like?

While we all may not be that perfect, you can at least pretend to be that perfect for one day.  Tomorrow (Thursday, February 14) is the last day to register for the First Annual Kids Running for Kids Race.  This Saturday (February 16) you and your student can run in a timed mile race together.  Proceeds from the race registration fee benefit Conroe Independent School District’s initiative “Read for a Better Life”.  The race is designed to promote education through reading and a healthy lifestyle through fitness.  Children in the 1st-6th grades can compete, but the race is capped at 1,000 students.  For more information: http://www.kidsrunningforkids.com/index.html
