No one does fall better than The Woodlands! Square Cow Movers is lucky to be a part of a city with a community calendar that’s jam-packed with events during October and well into November. Kick off the holiday season by taking part in a few of the fun family-friendly events below.
The Woodlands BBQ Festival
In Texas it’s always a good time for BBQ. Head on down to Town Green Park on October 8th for one of the newest fall traditions — The Woodlands BBQ Festival. The event will feature live music, cold brews, games for the kids and mouth-watery, slow smoked BBQ from some of the best pit masters in the area.
Houston Symphony’s Hocus Pocus Pops Concert
Experience the creepy sounds of Halloween in a whole new way. Every fall the Houston Symphony hosts a free concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for the whole family. Attendees are encouraged to dress up and join the goblin parade across the stage during the show. The Pavilion itself is completely decked out in hauntingly good decorations. Before or after the show, hop on the Great Pumpkin Express train for a ride around the grounds to take it all in.
Northshore Park Jack-o-Lantern Challenge
Join the 10th Annual Jack-o-Lantern Challenge for a chance to show off your creative talents. It’s completely free – the pumpkins and supplies are provided on a first come/first served basis. This year, the contest is held at Northshore Park beginning at 5:30pm on October 15th.
A Visit to the Pumpkin Patch at Market Street
Picking out the perfect pumpkin at the patch on Market Street is a local tradition in the fall. This year, the pumpkin patch at Market Street will be open on October 27-28th in Central Park. The pumpkins won’t cost a penny, but donations are welcome.
You can also enjoy the Fall Concert Series at Market Street on Thursday nights.
Annual Trick-or-Treat Trail at Town Green Park
Few trick-or-treat trails are as popular in The Woodlands as the one at Town Green Park. The Trick or Treat Trail includes tons of goodies for kids from local vendors, costume contests and games. Get down to Town Green Park on October 29th at 3pm to fill your Halloween bag.
The Woodlands Children’s Museum Halloween Spook-tacular!
The Woodlands Children’s Museum Halloween Spook-tacular is a must for all families with small kids. The event caters to kids 7 and under with special games, face painting, Halloween art projects, and interactive displays. The event takes place on Halloween day each year.
The Woodlands Lighting of the Doves Festival
Each year for more than three decades The Woodlands Lighting of the Doves Festival has served as the official beginning of the holiday season. People from around the community gather together to get their first glimpse of Santa Claus, enjoy local entertainment, and start the holiday cheer as early as possible.
Town Green Park will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland on November 18th this year. A total of 38 dove displays will be illuminated in the park and around the city. The event is meant to be a celebration of holiday traditions around the world. Attendees will learn about how other countries celebrate the winter holidays while enjoying our own homegrown traditions.
