Hiring veterans comes with a whole host of benefits: veterans know the meaning of hard work, they are used to making decisions independently, veterans take responsibility seriously, with the right framework, veterans are extremely capable and veterans come from a culture focused on building leadership and accomplishing tasks. As we strive to create a culture of respect, integrity and saying “Yes Ma’m / Sir,” we are proud to employ veterans, including herd member, Kevin Valle. Kevin Valle served our country in the United States Marine Corps and we want to honor him by inviting him to share his experiences with you!
What made you decide to join the military?
I have two reasons why I joined the USMC: 1. I wanted to serve my country. 2. I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself.
What was your position in the military?
I was an Amphibious Assault Vehicle Crew Chief. Our objective was to get from ship to shore, we would transport Marines and cargo . The vehicle we used weighed 26 tons, and was equipped with a 50-caliber machine gun and a MK 19 40mm grenade launcher.
What are you most proud of about your military service?
I am proud to have served with the Marines that were to my left and my right. I was never alone.
How did your military training/experience prepare you for your position with Square Cow Moovers?
The USMC gave me three core values that I live by till this day— Honor, Courage, and Commitment. The USMC prepared me for a leadership position. That is why I wanted to step up to a leadership position for Square Cow Moovers. Square Cow Moovers also gave me a set of core values that I use everyday—Honesty, Courtesy, and Hard Work!
Describe a day in your shoes at Square Cow Moovers.
A day in my shoes at Square Cow Moovers is exciting. I get a chance to work with civilians that love to serve people just as much as I do. Everyday is different and I always feel like there is no job too small or too big for my team to handle. With the right guidance we always find a way to overcome any obstacles we face as Moovers.
What gives you pride in your position?
What gives me pride in my position is that I get to set the “shoe size” for the next motivator who wants to step up to take a leading position for Square Cow Moovers. They will have big shoes to fill.
We are grateful to have Kevin in our herd so that he can help bring his past experiences to creating a better Square Cow Culture!
