Denver is a happening city, it was recently named the best place to live in the U.S. in 2016 among other accolades like one of the best cities to start a career. Many are moving to Denver, in fact, some of our herd recently moved to Denver to start our 7th branch. If you are new to the area (like us) and want to explore your new city, the following are on our list of things to do in Denver this summer!
Ranked as one of the top botanic gardens in the country, the Denver Botanic Gardens are currently home to a sculpture exhibit “Stories in Sculpture,” now on display until early October. There is also a live music summer concert series at the Denver Botanic Gardens through early September.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a bit of a drive to the Northeast of Denver, but you will have the opportunity to see rescued big cats, bears, wolves and more. Visitors can view the animals from a catwalk type walkway which is located on the 720 acres of sanctuary grassland.
The “Mile-High City” and surrounding areas offer great skiing in the winter, but don’t forget about the hiking in the summer. The best way to spend time in Colorado is to spend it outdoors. There are many different, beautiful hikes and trails to choose from with varying lengths and degrees of difficulty. You can choose to challenge yourself or go on an easier family outing.
If you are feeling slightly more adventurous white water rafting may be a great way to explore some of the waterways of Colorado. There are tons of different rafting companies to choose from. Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most popular Denver area attractions with over three million visitors every year. The park is located on over 415 square miles, has 150 lakes and 60 mountains taller than 12,000 feet. Summer is the ideal time to visit this national park. Camping, hiking, trail riding, horse ridding, fishing, wildlife viewing and bird watching are all activities that you can do at Rocky Mountain National Park.
