The first week of school is almost over and your family is ready for a well-deserved weekend, but before you put the books away, where do they go?
- Get Organized! Does the end of a school day usually look like a war zone or a tornado hit your home? After school do the kids come home and leave backpacks, tennis shoes, books and sports equipment in a big jumbled pile trail from the entry through the living room and to the kitchen? Don’t let this be your home. A move to a new home is the perfect time to designate where backpacks, books and shoes go. If you have room in your entryway, mudroom, or at the bottom of the stairs, baskets with each child’s name will ensure everyone has a spot. If you are a little more cramped for room, some hooks (with the ability to hold a decent amount of weight) in the entry way or kitchen may be a good place to hang backpacks.
- Study Time A move to a new home also means a new place for your students to study. Homework time may become less stressful if there is a designated spot for studying to take place. Whether it is around the kitchen table or a desk in your child’s room, help to make sure your student has the right supplies, no distractions and a helping hand if he needs it!
