Square Cow Movers are seriously getting tired (milked out if you will) of cow jokes (actually we love it when you post them on our Facebook Page)! We get it, cows and dairy jokes are funny. Making a joke about a cow and a dairy product must be as easy as explaining why the chicken crossed the road… Nevertheless, we still love dairy products and there is one dairy product that remains a favorite above the rest. That dairy product is ice cream!
We remember the golden days of yore when like wild cows, ice cream trucks freely roamed neighborhoods, playing their tinkling music that drew kids out of their houses and yards onto the street. Where can you find those spontaneous moments that bring the people of a community together to joyously visit, while kids run around with ice cream dripping down their precious faces? We can’t recall in recent memory the last time we heard the siren song of an ice cream truck, but we do know of an upcoming event centered around ice cream!
The 7th Annual Ice Cream Festival is where our herd will be heading on Saturday, August 17. From 10 AM to 7 PM you can try tons of different flavors of ice cream at Fiesta Gardens. Admission is $10 for adults, but free for children under eight years old who are accompanied by an adult. Your ticket includes a free tasting of everything! This event will also include games, activities, contests and live entertainment! Bring your neighbors, kids and even dogs to an event that sounds delicious.
The contests at the Ice Cream Festival include: a homemade ice cream making contest, a Popsicle stick sculpture contest and an ice cream eating contest. We know which of three we will be competing in! If your friends and family tell you that you make the best homemade ice cream around, bring a batch of your homemade ice cream with you and enter it into the homemade ice cream making contest. We wonder how the judges were chosen for that contest…The popsicle stick sculpture contest is about finding who is the best architect of popsicle sticks. You or your kids can make a creation at home or the festival to compete in this contest. The ice cream eating contest is about who can consume a gallon of ice cream the fastest. Don’t worry there will be a bona fide ice cream truck at the Ice Cream Festival, see you there!
