When you get older it becomes clear just how right mom was about basically everything. In honor of moms this Mother’s Day, we’re taking the best advice we got as kids and showing you how to use it during your move.

Clean Your Room!

One of the most repeated requests by moms across the world still rings in our ears “Clean your room.” Before moving out of your current place give it a good cleaning. Cleaning isn’t just about cleanliness. It’s also about taking care of your things and taking pride in the place you live – even if you won’t be there much longer. Show the future owners of your home just how great it is from the moment they walk in the door.

Share With Others

Learning to share is an important life lesson that moms instill in their children from an early age. Making a move provides you with a perfect opportunity to share the things you no longer use or want through donations. Once you’ve cleaned house you’ll probably find there’s lots of things that fall into this category. Sharing through donations not only gives you philanthropic feel-good vibes, it also can be used as a tax deduction.

Look Before You Leap

If you don’t know what you’re jumping into, you may not like where you land. It’s important to research Texas movers before deciding which one to use. Start by asking friends and family for recommendations then take to the Internet to read through customer reviews. Simply picking the cheapest movers may cost you more in the long run.

Work Hard, Play Hard

It’s important to take breaks from the moving madness for your mental well being. Create a schedule where you focus on the move for a few days then reward yourself for getting items on your to-do list done. Add in some fun time like going to a movie or concert where you can sit back and relax without thinking about what’s still got to get done.

Obviously moms make great movers among many other things. Who would have guessed the lessons they taught us as kids would help so much on moving day. If your mom’s words of wisdom proved to be valuable during a move feel free to share the motherly advice with the rest of us.
